Another climate change assumption turns out to be BS..........(stop the presses)

The longer scientist study Climate Change, the more they realize they don't know what they are talking about. Not five months ago environmentalists, from Lord Stern to Sir Paul McCartney, urged people to stop eating meat because the methane produced by cattle causes global warming. However a new study found that cattle grazed on open grasslands can actually reduce another greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide.


The researchers explained that this only applied to free range cattle who are able to eat and pad down grass that releases nitrous. Last fall, Lord Sterns laid the claim out that eating meat was causing extreme global warming. At the time he claimed that emissions from cows and livestock contributed a minimum of 18% of all greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. He based his claim on the fact that Methane is 4 times more effective than Carbon dioxide is in trapping the suns heat. He went on to say that when a climate deal is reached, meat prices must skyrocket in order to save the planet and change peoples eating habits

“I think it’s important that people think about what they are doing and that includes what they are eating,” he said. “People need to change their notion of what is responsible and increasingly ask about the carbon content of their food.”

Yeah, I’ll get right ont that. “ Excuse me, waiter. Could you please let me know the carbon footprint of this burger?"
 Actually now that I think of it, I’m going to start doing exactly that :-) It will drive the liberals I know absolutely bonkers.

Liberal busy bodies love to talk about what we all do to ourselves and how THEY can help us do it better. If their help has to be forced against our will, then that’s how they will do it. It doesn't matter if they live up to their own standards, because its never about them, its about everyone else. Lord Stern himself illustrates this point while advocating for a vegetarian diet. He is not a vegetarian, and admitted such during his interview last fall. The hypocrisy of the climate change community is more astounding then any other political issue. They don't want to change peoples behavior, they want to dictate it.

The research published in Nature Magazine today shows how far off these people really are from understanding the full scope of earths climate. They are still unable to even determine what heats and cools our planet. The whole house of cards is build on assumptions.

Dr Butterbach-Bahl said the study overturned assumptions about grazing goats and cattle. "It's been generally assumed that if you increase livestock numbers you get a rise in emissions of nitrous oxide. This is not the case," he said.

I don't know about you, but I'd prefer we dont destroy our economies (any more than we already have) based on general assumptions of people who think far too much of themselves and their importance to the world.

If the study published today is accurate, then its possible to eliminate 18% of GHG's just by mandating free range livestock. Don't get me wrong, this would be incredibly stupid too, but not as stupid as every other ridiculous solution they propose.

Klaus Butterbach-Bahl, of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, carried out the study in Inner Mongolia in China. He found that grassland produced more nitrous oxide during the spring thaw when sheep or cattle have not been grazing. This is because the greenhouse gas, also known as laughing gas, is released by microbes in the soil. When the grass is long snow settles keeping the microbes warm and providing water, however when the grass is cut short by animals the ground freezes and the microbes die.

Estimated nitrous oxide emissions from temperate grasslands in places like Inner Mongolia as well as vast swatches of the United States, Canada, Russia and China account for up a third of the total amount of the greenhouse gas produced every year.

So instead of contributing a third of our climates GHG's, livestock actually reduce them. It kind of makes you glad no-one listens to these climate scientists when they come out advocating for new and expensive policies. Half the time, they would do more damage to their own cause then if they did nothing. Come to think of it, that’s what every progressive policy does. Welfare increases poverty, minimum wage laws increase unemployment, socialized medicine will degrade our  medical care, The war on drugs increased drug use and strengthened cartels, and  Anti-Gun laws increase the power of gangs and violent criminals. Why does anyone listen to these people when the documented results of their projects show a pattern of catastrophe?

The effect livestock has on the climate was so miscalculated that scientist were actually starting to develop a device to trap the farts and burps of cows  to store them in carbon nuetral tanks. THEY WERE BUILDING A FART CATCHER TO SAVE THE PLANET!!! I wonder if that works better than cupping your hands back to you ass and whipping your fart in other peoples faces? It sounds promising.

Logic and reason have left the climate change community. Whether they be a scientist, politician, or a simple advocate; they have abandoned objective reason and embraced a lie which has become no less than their new religion. They operate on pure faith and they hold onto their faith by investing their entire lives to the cause . The only impact they could have in this is negative. They are far more likely to do  damage in their attempts to hault climate change, then they are to fix a problem that doesnt exist.

We may as well dedicate half the worlds resources to capturing evil spirits around the globe who are plotting to melt the icecaps. At least then everyone could freely admit what a waste of time and money iit all is.
