The latest research has got to be one of my all time favorites. Not only because it is flat out stupid, but also because it reflects perfectly where are climate research money goes.
Suneeta Mukherjee, the Philippine representative to the United Nations, said:
“The effects of climate change have driven women in coastal areas of poor countries like the Philippines, into dangerous work and sometimes even the flesh trade. Climate change could reduce income from farming and fishing, possibly driving some women into sex work and thereby increase HIV infection,"
That’s a whole lot of qualifying statements for a scientific study. It almost make me wonder if this study POSSIBLY COULD, MAYBE, have any relevance to anything; but PROBABLY not.
The funniest thing to me about this study is that-- if anyone were to look at how much its going to cost to implement climate controls, they would see that the prostitution hypothesis is more likely to happen, if we adopt the prescribed economic medicine it will take to control the temperature. If we destroy the economies of the world to fight global warming, the women will still be driven to prostitution through poverty. It just won’t be isolated to costal regions.
The UN suggested five measures to mitigate climate change and overpopulation:
-- Bring a better understanding of population dynamics, gender and reproductive health to climate change and environmental discussions at all levels; (ie; give more money to our research because it will prevent prostitution, MAYBE)
-- Fully fund family planning services and contraceptive supplies within the framework of reproductive health and rights, and assure that low income is no barrier to access;(ie; Fully fund abortions for poor countries. Find a way to prevent these dirty poor people from using the earths beautiful resources so much. Make poor third-world countries, more like poor inner-city minorities)
-- Prioritize research and date collection to improve the understanding of gender and population dynamics in climate change mitigation and adaptation; (Climate change will kill us all, but what about the little people. With your contribution of 1 quadrillion dollars, my team and I can be employed for another 2 months of important research)
-- Improve sex-disaggregation of date related to migration flows that are influenced by environmental factors and prepare now for increases in population movements resulting from climate change;
(If you give me the research grant money, I can make sure there is no change in the population growth, and or, prostitution growth. Because most likely, I won’t have to do anything to make that happen anyways)
-- Integrate gender considerations into global efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
(ie; Classic liberal ploy: THINK OF THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN! What she is really saying here is: climate change is a huge issue, and even though I have no knowledge of the Climate, or how it works, that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get in on some of that cash.)
These are the climate studies we are funding. They go off and spend trillions of dollars; not developing new technologies, not discovering new energy resources; but finding out what will happen IF, and WHEN, the world comes to an end. They research things like: “the effect on the economy if society as we know it comes to an end”. They go off and spend years researching “How many people will die of overheating from global warming”, when they know that far more die from the cold, and that won’t change regardless of the warming we have. They waste limited resources, looking at how the “mating habits of the northern squirrel” has been disrupted by the massive heat increase (even though there isn’t any increase).
There are reasons that so many scientists are willing to back up such an unknowable science like Climate Change. They are financially and ideologically based decisions. They make money, stay employed, and get to study whatever the heck they want; as long as they can relate it back to climate change. It’s a giant ponzi scheme, where we pay for un-needed research to state the openly obvious. This study could have been summed up in one sentence.
“Regardless of what happens to the climate; an increase in poverty will result in increased prostitution.”
Done. Where’s my government grant?
