Praise for China's one-child policy is insane..............

As the Copenhagen Conference (meeting December 7-18) on climate change continues, reports from the Eco-Nazis on the dangers facing our world are becoming more and more extreme. The two latest stories I saw focus on the dangers of overpopulation. Shockingly, both writers strongly embrace instituting the “one-child policy” that was put in place in China. Check out these excerpts from the National Canadian Newspaper:

A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate. Doing nothing will result in an unsustainable population of nine billion by 2050. Humans are the only rational animals but have yet to prove it. The world can only accommodate so many people, especially if billions get indoor plumbing and cars.

There’s something that you should take away from that paragraph. Mainly, the lack of common sense. Preachers of environmental disaster have been screaming about population control for over 200 years. Educated predictions of future world population have gone from a high of 20 billion, to 15 billion, to 11 billion (1990 UN estimate) to now 9 billion in 2050.

In 1968, Paul Ehrlich published the highly referenced book; The Population Bom. The book predicted that by 1985, overpopulation would lead to world famine, the death of the oceans, a reduction in life expectancy to 42 years, nuclear war, and the wasting of the Midwest into a vast desert. Overpopulation has been
tirelessly preached by environmentalist, with all predictions consistently proven false. It is simply a non-issue. The population HAS increased exponentially over the past 100 years, but there are many reasons for that which have nothing to do with fertility rate. The fact is, the world has scene a sustained decline in fertility, particularly in Europe. This trend is also seen in other countries like Japan, Cyprus, and Puerto Rico. Fertility rates consistently drop when countries develop and increase living standards. People become more educated about sex and contraception, and the size of families (and births per female) consistently drops. This is an inconvenient truth for global warming alarmist, because the policies they push to cut emissions will almost certainly INCREASE the world’s fertility rate. The reason the population continues to increase despite reduced fertility, is because people are living so much longer. Development leads to better medicine, education, and overall cleanliness. It’s why we should be pushing for more development, not less. In the 1900’s, life expectancy for the world hovered around 30 years. It is now well over 60 (78 in America). The one-child policy will do little if anything to reduce emissions.

These reports on overpopulation irritate the heck out of me. But the most amazing part of it all, is that they praise China's one-child policy as a shining example for the future. China’s one-child policy is one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of the last 30 years. The Eco-Nazi’s could care-less:

China has proven that birth restriction is smart policy. For those who balk at the notion that governments should control family sizes, just wait until the growing human population turns twice as much pastureland into desert as is now the case, or when the Amazon is gone, the elephants disappear for good and wars erupt over water, scarce resources and spatial needs.

There are so many problems with this, I don’t even know where to begin. The one-child policy in China has lead to, forced sterilization, age and gender disparities, infanticide, and forced abortions as late as 8.5 months into the pregnancy. It also established abortion quotas, with some large towns having a mandatory abortion number as high as 20,000. It contributed to skyrocketing rates of abandoned children living in state sponsored orphanages. And Maybe worst of all, It lead to the re-emergence of eugenics science in child-rearing. Chinese partners had to be rigorously tested before they got married, and if one had an "unsatisfactory" physical or mental condition, they were banned from marriage. The Chinese government claimed that these regulations were intended to improve the quality of the Chinese population. So did Hitler, when he began eliminating Jews and the mentally handicapped for the same reasons.

Lastly, the one chil policy is not even the catalyst of the reduction in Chinese child bearing. China’s birth rate dropped much more significantly before their one-child policy was in place, by families delaying and spacing births. The most dramatic decrease in the rate actually occurred between 1970 and 1979, with birth rates dropping from 5.9 to 2.9. The one-child policy only reduced it to from about 2.7 to 1.7.

The idea that this policy would be shown as “the way to salvation”, is all you need to know about the environmental movement. They are anti-humanity, and have no care for individual human rights. They see humanity as a virus that is slowly killing Mother-Earth. They are proven incorrect time and again. They are caught in lies and corruption on a yearly basis, yet they somehow maintain a public voice supported by our media outlets. These people are the last on the planet that you should listen to. We are not overpopulating the earth. The vast majority of it is undeveloped. Even in America, less than 10% of the continent has been developed, and the entire population of the world would fit shoulder to shoulder in Jacksonville, Florida.
