President Obama:
If media is operating basically as a talk radio format then that's one thing, and if it's operating as a news outlet that's another"
Here are his advisors:
White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod said this weekend that Fox is "not really a news station." That echoes similar comments made by White House Communications Director Anita Dunn and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
The press was given the constitutional obligation to be a watchdog on government for the people. Fox is obviously more conservative then objective, but he's on MSNBC for crying out loud! They are more extreme towards liberal perspective's then Fox is to conservative. It is just insane what the other media outlets are letting him get away with. If you don't know what I mean by that, remember, Obama ran as a moderate.

I could be wrong about this, but I detect a bit of WWE fighting rather than an actual battle. I truely think Obama is wise and if that is true, he would just ignore fox news, and be a silent protestor and keep his boycott going. This is not the case.
ReplyDeleteRemember, Murdoch was a Hilary Clinton supporter...

Don't fall for this Duncan, I think this is a fake fight to make Foxnews be the "go to" media source for anti-obama folks, only to usher them into airbrushed, lipstick wearing, pretty girls who claim to know the news. He might pretend to dislike the "Luffa Mauler",

But I tend to think that they are all in bed together. But Why? I think the Dem's (ya know, Murdoch and foxnews) want to keep the right as dumb as possible. I think there are some choice people who don't play along, but in general, Foxnews is just a stooge for the Democrats.
This story, or my take on it, have almost nothing to do with Fox News. It's about how this administration has attacked every form of dissent, and have established themselves as dictators of information.
ReplyDeleteI really disagree with you (mr. savage nation ;) on Fox News being a tool for the Democrats. I agree that they are all in bed together, but Fox is clearly a republican angle to the news. I'll clarify, there is a huge difference between republicans and conservatives, libertarians and constitutionalist.
The issue isn't whether Fox News supports Obama, or John MCain, or anyone else. The issue is the government silencing the free press. Murdoch supporting Hillary does nothing to make me think That Fox is "in on it" with Democrats. If Hillary would have won the Democratic Nomination (against MCain) she would probably have gotten my voice.
This is the same thing they do with talk radio. They attack private business, in attempt to either silence it or conform it. IT's unacceptable. Again, I dont give two craps about Fox News. I never watch it, I dont even have cable. But Fox News is not the issue. I would have written the same thing if he these things about MSNBC.
I think your confusing what I am intending to point out. I don't think Fox is a threat to Obama, but they still are the most watched cable News show in the "recognized media", and they are the only news show that is critical of the administration. whether they are ok with the current flow of government (apart of the boys club) is not what I care about. I don't think Obama criticizing them is going to do anything but good things for them, meaning increased advertising and viewership (I mentioned the same thing in the Glenn Beck Post) . That is not the point.
ReplyDeleteAnother issue I didn't mention, because I was trying to keep it short, is that this issue is below the president. This guy goes out and addresses everyone who criticizes him, like he's appalled at the thought of disagreement. He never addresses the criticism, he just denounces the individual or organization.
The press does have the constitutional obligation to bring information to the people. If they are criticizing the socialization of America, I am all for them doing that. And, I would hope that anyone in office who doesn't like what they are saying, address the issue and not the people talking about the issue
One last thing; I have never seen the O'Rielly show. I've heard of the sexual harassment suite though.
